Hello and welcome to the first edition of AI Corner! I’m Tom, Head of AI and handsomest developer here at SYNCHUB (no matter how much Ben might dispute it). I’ve been intimately involved with the development of our AI Assistant since the beginning and now I have the privilege of being responsible for its ongoing development and direction. If you have any requests, complaints, or gushing praise feel free to direct it my way.
AI Corner is a new segment we are including with the newsletter. In it I will discuss anything AI related that takes my fancy, which might be updates about our AI Assistant, deep dives on existing features and best practices or my take on news and developments in the wider AI world.
Our AI philosophy at SYNCHUB
For our first edition I wanted to talk a little bit about our history and philosophy with AI here at SyncHub, which I would describe as “cautious but optimistic”.
We first started experimenting with AI in our own workflows several years ago. Like many early adopters we alternated between moments of being blown away by the power of good answers and disappointment with laughably bad ones.
As the models have gotten better and better we gradually increased our use of them and decided to build our own AI Assistant at the beginning of 2025. From the beginning we have recognized that AI is a powerful tool, but one that can easily go awry and works best in close cooperation with a human.
That philosophy shaped every decision we made while building our AI Assistant. Instead of packing in flashy features as fast as possible, we focused on building a solid architecture that plays to an AI model's strengths while mitigating its weaknesses, and delivers its primary purpose as reliably as possible.
To that end we have devoted many hours of effort to minimizing token costs, keeping context laser-focused and validating responses for accuracy and relevance. The result is an Assistant we're genuinely proud of, that we use ourselves to get insights into our own data, and one that serves as a reliable foundation for all the exciting features to come.
What's next?
So what's coming next? Quite a lot, as it turns out. We have a solid roadmap of improvements and new capabilities in the works, and I'll be using this space to keep you informed as they develop. I'll also be sharing tips on how to get the most out of the AI Assistant today, because in my experience a bit of know-how goes a long way with these tools.
It's an exciting time to be working in this space, and I think it's never been a better time to be a SYNCHUB customer too. The AI Assistant is a primary focus of development and we are always interested in feedback or requests. If there is something you want it to do or do better we are keen to hear your thoughts.
Thanks for reading, and I'll see you in the next edition.
